One of the most important things to note about Van Nuys is the Parks & Recs Center, located off Vanowen Street. This facility is a bit of a hidden gem. Unlike other parks in the area, it does not have natural grass and doesn't have as many trees as some of the other parks in the city. However, it does have a playground, a tennis court, and a jogging path. Moreover, it is close to a number of restaurants, coffee shops, and stores.

If you are a family or a group, the Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Recreation Center may be a good option. Located off of the 101 freeway, this park is convenient for those who are in the area and want to take advantage of its numerous amenities. During the winter, the center offers cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Finally, there is a playground with a small sandbox and a few small goals tucked into the fence. There are other small play areas, including an inflatable obstacle course and a nifty kids' jungle gym.

Considering all of its attractions, it's not surprising that Van Nuys is a popular place to live. In fact, rent prices in the area are on the high side, averaging about $2,039. Rent can vary widely based on a number of factors, including bedroom count and amenities.
